“…”

Silviana returned to the royal palace alone that day.

Wrapped in a modest yet well-made robe, head held high, she quietly stole through the darkness.

The guards of the royal palace recognized her on sight, but they dared not reproach her.

The groundwork had already been laid.

She returned to her room.

Normally, her maid would be running in to change her clothes for her, but there was no sign of anyone.

“…”

The moonlight illuminated the dark room.

Silviana slipped off her silk robe, showing soft, immaculate limbs.

If Bash were there, no doubt he would explode at this sight. Heroes were fragile things, too.

Then Silviana turned her face to the side.

She looked into a full-length mirror. In celebration of the end of the war, the Alliance of Four came together to create these special items, which were presented to the royal families of each country. This mirror had been adorned with several enchanted crests and would not lose its luster for a hundred years. Even if it were to be shattered with a club, it would repair itself in the blink of an eye.

She slammed her fist into this mirror.

Crick! An unpleasant sound resonated, and the mirror cracked.

The crack repaired itself instantly, as if time had been rewound, but Silviana slammed her fist into it over and over again.

Bloody smears marred the mirror’s surface, but she kept on punching it.

Even when the cracking sound grew muffled, changed to a wet squishing sound, she continued.

Then, all at once, her madness tapered off.

Silviana’s hand paused, her face blank, and she carefully wiped off the mirror with a cloth placed next to it.

Then she silently threw the cloth into the wastebasket, mumbled the incantation of a recovery spell in a low voice, and healed her wounded fist.

“…”

Silviana took out her night clothes from the closet, put them on, moved over to the window in the moonlight, and opened it.

She looked out at the inn Bash had returned to.

Her blank expression cracked like ice.

Her eyes reflected hatred, malice. She bared her teeth and let out a small growl.

“Proud to have fought him and won, are you?”

Her growl turned into an angry murmur.

Her murmuring was not only angry but somewhat confused, too.

She had believed things to be one way, only to find out they were another.

But no one heard her. Her voice melted into the nothingness of the dark night…

“…”

Silviana looked outside for a while longer, but eventually, she let out a small sigh and turned back to her room.

She wore a smile on her face.

Who was that smile for? What was that smile about? It was impossible to tell.

But the next moment, the smile froze upon her face.
